Mac Mini Now Starts at $1,099 After Apple Pulls 256GB Model

Rumour: 4K Mac Desktop, 12” Retina MacBook Launching Alongside OS X Yosemite
Apple will officially launch Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite in October, as the golden master of the operating system is currently planned for around October 10th, sources speaking with 9to5Mac revealed. The release will be in tandem with the launch of at least a couple of new Mac computers, the same sources say.
The release pattern could be similar to what we saw last year. There are major differences, though: The iWatch is said to be unveiled at a media event in October, as well as the Mac computers, and let’s mention the next-generation iPads as well.
Sources say Apple has been working on a new Retina MacBook with a 12-inch display and a thinner, lighter aluminium body. At this point, it is currently unclear whether this will be a smaller MacBook Pro or a new MacBook Air, or a new line of Mac computers altogether.
Another Mac computer, or maybe just a monitor, is in the works — the report is vague enough to meet the requirements of a rumour — with a 4K resolution display.
Analysts and foreign forum postings previously indicated that Apple is developing a new 12-inch MacBook. While it is possible Apple will market the aforementioned 4K desktop as a “Retina” machine, the technology for true pixel-doubling of the current 27-inch iMac and Thunderbolt Display’s 2560 x 1440 resolution is not ready for market.
Since Yosemite elements are optimized for high-resolution screens, it seems logical for Apple to launch new Mac computers with Retina display at this time, the sources emphasized.

Mind you, they do sell more Airs than Pros so to keep sales momentum going they might do it on both the Airs and Pros. For work, I prefer the 15” (or larger) screen sizes since I spend about 10 hours a day look at it so 4K might be easier on the eyes. Hopefully later they will add 4K to the iMacs. This could also lead into the mystical iTV.
