MTS Launches 4G LTE Network in Carman

Manitoba’s regional carrier, MTS, has announced its 4G LTE network is now live in Carman, part of an ongoing series of high speed wireless rollouts, which have hit 12 rural communities in the province this year.

“I’m pleased that another Manitoba community will now enjoy the benefits that MTS’s fastest wireless network has to offer,” said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd. “LTE offers data speeds that are significantly faster than the current HSPA+ technology, ensuring customers enjoy their new LTE smartphones to the fullest.”

Coverage maps haven’t been updated for Carman yet, but they should be soon. The small rural town is roughly 40 minutes southwest of Winnipeg.

MTS says over 850,000 Manitobans have access their to their 4G LTE network, which launched back in 2012. Over the next five years, MTS plans to roll out LTE to over 90 per cent of the province’s population.
