iPad Air 2 Said to Launch in October, Next-Gen Retina iPad Mini Next Year
After a successful launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple is gearing up for the next product line refresh, the iPad. However, don’t start saving for the next-gen iPad mini with Retina display just yet, because it may not launch until next year, sources within Apple’s supply chain have told the Taiwan’ Commercial Times (via MacRumors).
What we’ll likely see next month, according to the report, is the iPad Air 2. Apple is said to be accelerating production of the iPad Air 2 and the next-gen Retina iPad mini, as it requires a monthly output of 7.5 million units instead of the previous 4 million or 4.5 million units reported for the previous production cycle.
Also, the rumours of a bigger-screen iPad Pro have returned once again: Apple decided to address the need for bigger smartphone screens with the iPhone 6 Plus, fueling further speculation about a 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
The company is said to be starting mass production of the iPad Pro in the second quarter of 2015.
Considering the slowing sales of iPads, the report says Apple tablet sales won’t exceed 70 million units for this year.
