Apple Watch Supplier to Double Workforce in Q4 2014 to Meet Demand [Rumour]

Apple’s alleged Apple Watch supplier, Quanta Computers, has started preparing to cope with the demand, sources speaking with the Liberty Times have said. As a first step, it will expand its workforce to 40,000 in its plants in Changshu, eastern China.

While sources have whispered that Apple has tapped only Quanta Computers to manufacture the Apple Watch, earlier rumours talked about a “duet”: Quanta and Inventec. Quanta’s hiring process, however, seems to be in line with earlier claims that the company will not start manufacturing the eagerly awaited device until January.

Actually, the sources who spoke with the Liberty Times say that Quanta will need to be ready to mass produce the Apple Watch before the Chinese Spring Festival kicks off in February 2015. This claim is also in line with previous reports about a possible February release.

But these are just estimates of when the Apple Watch will launch next year, as Apple has said it will ship the device early 2015. The first-generation Apple wearable will come in three different versions: the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition, at a starting price of $349.
