Bell Canada Acquires the Toronto Argonauts, Will Play at BMO Field

Yesterday it was reported Bell and MLSE chairman Larry Tanenbaum were set to buy the Toronto Argonauts in an ‘imminent’ deal according to league sources. This morning, Bell Canada and Tanenbaum’s Kilmer Group officially announced the deal, set to close on December 31, 2015.

“Bell is proud to welcome the storied Argonauts club to our team. The Argos and the entire CFL are key to Bell Media’s unbeatable array of sports content available to fans across broadband mobile, TV and Internet platforms,” said George Cope, President and CEO of Bell Canada and BCE Inc.

Cope also mentioned “Bell has made the industry-leading network and content investments required to deliver the best sports action across every screen consumers may choose.” So yeah, get ready to stream more CFL games from your devices via TSN GO for iOS, which is part of Bell Media.

The Argonauts will play at BMO Field starting in 2016, after renovations complete to accommodate the CFL field. The existing field is home to MLSE team Toronto FC, owned partly by Bell and Rogers.
