Chatr and Lucky Mobile Axe $19 Plans, Leaving Fewer Cheap Options

Rogers-owned Chatr and Bell-owned Lucky Mobile are removing cheaper prepaid plans this week, leaving Canadians with fewer options under $25 per month.

Chatr has replaced its $21/1GB plan with a $22 talk-and-text plan that includes 500MB with auto-pay. Without automatic payments, there’s no data included. That’s $1 more per month for half the data. The change comes days after Chatr removed its limited-time $19/500MB plan.

Here’s Chatr’s monthly pricing as of October 8, 2026:

  • $22/500MB (was $21/1GB)
  • $25/6GB
  • $30/20GB
  • $35/35GB

Data totals above include auto-pay bonuses. Chatr also offers annual plans at $100 for 400 Canada-wide minutes and $159 for 40GB.

Lucky Mobile, meanwhile, is ending its $21/1GB offer today, October 8. The new-customer plan includes 500MB of base data and a 500MB auto top-up bonus. Lucky also removed its $19/500MB option earlier this week.

Here’s Lucky Mobile’s monthly pricing as of October 8, 2026, after autopay top-up bonuses:

  • $21/1GB (new customers only, ends today)
  • $25/5GB
  • $30/15GB
  • $35/30GB

For customers who only need a tiny bit of data, the disappearance of those $19 plans means a higher starting price. At $25, Chatr now offers 6GB with auto-pay, compared with Lucky’s 5GB.

The changes follow Public Mobile’s recent plan overhaul and Bell’s BYOP price increases of up to $10. Again, these price increases come ahead of Black Friday next month, when many are expecting ‘better’ cellphone deals once again.
