Apple May Not Release the iPhone 6c After All, Report Suggests

As we inch toward the rumoured release date of the next generation iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, multiple contradictory reports have surfaced about the launch of its lower-cost iPhone 6c. In case you had set your heart on a next generation plastic iPhone, Fiksu has some bad news for you (via 9to5Mac).

After digging through its dataset, market research company Fiksu has found only two new iPhones in its web traffic logs in July: iPhone 8,1 and iPhone 8,2. For those unfamiliar with these delineations, the current model, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, is “iPhone 7,2” and the bigger, 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus is “iPhone 7,1”.

The yet to be released devices noted by Fiksu seem to use popular apps, including travel, games and lifestyle. The majority of the usage is coming from the US, but there were a couple of hits in Germany and Brazil.

This, however, doesn’t necessarily mean that Apple has nixed its plan to launch a lower-cost iPhone this year, but it lowers the chances of such rumours coming to fruition.
