MTS CEO Jay Forbes said in a statement “I’m so pleased that more than 1 million Manitobans now have access to MTS’s 4G LTE Wireless Network,” following up to say “LTE offers data speeds that are significantly faster than the current HSPA+ technology, ensuring customers enjoy their new LTE smartphones to the fullest.”

Recent LTE additions this year include: The Pas, Beausejour, Pinawa, Elie, Winnipeg Beach, Stonewall, Niverville, Minnedosa, La Salle, Lockport, St Andrew’s, Beausejour, Oakbank, Grunthal, Lee River, Kleefeld, Belair, Nopiming, Russell, Anola, Souris, Carberry, Arborg, Lac du Bonnet, Morris, Neepawa, and Treherne. Earlier this month Piney saw LTE reach the rural municipality.

MTS says its 4G HSPA+ network, coupled with its growing LTE network, now covers 98 per cent of the province’s population.
