According to an independent series of tests conducted by SquareTrade Labs, Apple has solved the “Bendgate” problem with its new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

The San Francisco company put the latest generation of iPhones and the rival Samsung Galaxy S Note 5 through torture tests to evaluate the devices’ durability. The handsets were subjected to drops, dunks, bends, and extreme temperatures.

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are sturdier than their predecessors, thanks to their stronger 7000-series aluminum enclosures. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus withstood pressure of 170 pounds and 180 pounds, respectively, without bending. The Note 5 was also able to withstand a similar force of 170 pounds.

It seems very unlikely that these smartphones will bend in anyone’s pocket, like some users experienced last year with the iPhone 6 Plus.

However, accidental drops are still a problem. All three phones shattered when dropped face down on pavement. The company reports that cracked screens caused by accidental drops are responsible for half of all smartphone damage.

After being subjected to extreme temperatures the Note 5 lasted nearly two hours making a video call. The iPhone 6s Plus lasted more than an hour, and the iPhone 6s only lasted 30 minutes.
