Amazon has officially launched its Amazon Family feature in Canada, giving Prime subscribers a way to share their membership perks with another adult in their household without paying extra fees. This feature has been available in the US for a while now and other international markets, but it’s finally here in Canada.
The update allows two adults living at the same address to share core Prime perks while maintaining individual accounts. Included benefits cover fast and free delivery, Prime Video streaming, Amazon Luna, DashPass, and access to major sale events such as Prime Day.
To use the feature, the primary Prime subscriber acts as the Family Organizer and sends an invitation to the second adult. Setting up the shared benefits requires choosing a single shared payment method for the household. The invited adult can only see limited card details, including the last four digits, expiry date, and billing address. The primary account holder gets a notification whenever a order is placed using that shared card.
Both users keep their own separate login, purchase history, and personalized recommendations, keeping individual buying habits and watchlists private. So what’s the benefit here? Now you can order gifts or surprise presents and it won’t get ruined because you’re both sharing the same account and getting push notifications.
Amazon Family is available at no extra cost to standard Prime members in Canada, where subscriptions cost $9.99 per month or $99 per year. Amazon said that Prime Young Adult account holders are excluded from sharing benefits through this feature.

Having my own purchase history when I have to use the same payment method is utterly pointless.
The second account should, and must, be allowed to use their own payment method. I don’t want my adult kids using my credit card to buy things!
Agreed, this is lame with the forced card sharing.
It’s a pretty easy fix. You just put 2 or 3 credit cards on the account and each person chooses “their” credit card when they buy things
