Google’s Inbox Gmail App to Get One-Tap ‘Smart Reply’ Feature

Are you using Google’s Inbox app by Gmail? The company has announced today the app is going to get smarter this week, with the introduction of a new feature called Smart Reply.

The feature automatically suggests up to three one-tap responses based on your emails, to save you from typing. Google explains “for those emails that require a bit more thought, it gives you a jump start so you can respond right away.”

Google says Inbox by Gmail is able to come up with smart replies because it “uses machine learning to recognize emails that need responses and to generate the natural language responses on the fly.”

The company provides some technical details how their team was able to accomplish this over at their Research Blog, which you can read here. Look for the Smart Reply feature to debut this week for Inbox by Gmail for iOS.
