The service went live today at 10AM local time, allowing Uber iOS and Android users to order meals from over 40 local restaurants, delivered to your door, with a launch promo right now offering free delivery in the Edmonton area.

To use the service, just download the UberEATS app, sign into your Uber account, add your delivery address, browse the list of restaurants and choose a meal, pay within the app via credit card, then track your order in real-time.

Uber said in a statement “Restaurants can depend on the Uber delivery network to expand their businesses and reach a new network of potential customers. And, delivery partners have access to flexible earning opportunities.”

Currently, Uber operates in over 40 communities in Canada, with over 22,000 driver-partners.

Update: Use promo code EATSEDMONTON to save $15 off your first order.

Hmm, looks like it is not valid for the entire coverage of Edmonton, according to RFD.

funny thing is.. you would think it would tell you that it’s not valid. instead it gives a framework error.

Maybe the system is overwhelmed right now? See if it works later or keep trying…
