iPhone 7 Pre-Orders Rumoured to Kick Off On September 9th
Apple’s next generation iPhone will likely be available for pre-order on September 9th, according to a well-known leaker. Yesterday Evan Blass followed up on his earlier leaks claiming that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus would launch on Friday September 16, tweeting that pre-orders are expected to go live a week before.
Confirmed: Pre-orders start on the 9th. You can extrapolate the launch event date from there. https://t.co/gwoPzIM1dI

Considering that Apple usually announces the latest handsets a few days before pre-orders go live, and also keeping in mind that Labor Day is on Monday, September 5, the most likely date to make the announcement before the rumoured pre-orders start is Tuesday, September 6 or 7. Apple held the iPhone events on September 9th in both 2014 and 2015.
With the iPhone event taking place on September 9, 2015, pre-orders went live on September 12, and the iPhone 6s hit the stores on September 25.
If Blass’ sources are correct, Apple will announce the iPhone 7 a few days earlier, bringing the pre-order and launch date forward: compared to last year, Blass claims that pre-orders will start on September 9, and the iPhone 7 will be available in stores on September 16.
This year’s iPhone is rumoured to retain the design of the iPhone 6 series with minor tweaks. The most significant change is expected to be the all-in-one Lightning port, the bigger camera for the 4.7-inch model and dual-camera for the 5.5-inch model.
