That was a quick turnaround, wasn’t it? Just two days ago we were watching Apple unveil their new fall goodies on stage, and now we can pre-order them. We’re referring to the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2, which is now available to order in Canada, the U.S. and other first-wave countries.
We just placed our pre-order for a 128GB iPhone 7 Plus in Jet Black, using the Apple Store iOS app and of course the store didn’t load at first, even at 12:02AM PDT. A force quite of the app (double tap Home, then swipe it up) and reopening saw the store load online.
Scrambling like a mad man, we placed our order and thanks to Apple Pay, check out was very fast. Our delivery window is 1-2 weeks, dated Sept. 27 – Oct. 4, so we may have missed the first September 16th shipment, but we’re crossing our fingers the time will improve, like in year’s past.
Apple’s unlocked iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus prices are as follows:

Carrier pre-orders from Rogers, TELUS and Bell are set to begin today as well. Bell’s pre-orders just kicked off, while Rogers/Fido will start at 3AM PDT/6AM EDT, and TELUS should be later this morning.

Same here. I sought out hands-on vids and photos from people who attended the keynote, and I actually think I prefer the matte black. That’s what a lot of the people there said too. The moment you touch the JB, it looks horrible because it’s a finger print magnet. One person also showed that even the demo unit at the event already had what she called “micro scratches”.

Absolutely! But I think 3 months from now, ours will still look sexy. 🙂 I like to swap cases depending on where I’m going, and I get the feeling even doing that is likely to mark the edges of the jet black which will really knock down the resale value.

Has anyone had success ordering a 7 Plus through Telus? Ordered and it’s saying shipping the 23rd…..
I ordered it last night on Telus and it says September 23 ship date. I talked to a Telus Store today and they said they doubt it will be any sooner then that.
I don’t think anyone got sept 16th for jet black orders. Probably was initially set for Sept 27th orders. Just food for thought.
It seems most of the launch day Jet Blacks were in the US and they were for people who ordered them from their carriers website

I never saw anything earlier than October 5th to 12th delivery for the Jet Black 7+ 128gb. Hopefully these will deliver on launch day. This has happened before.
Feeling disappointed. I totally missed the carrier reserve link at the top until about 15 min in. Finally got to the page and all the jet black is gone. Im going to have to upgrade through Rogers. Does anyone know how we go about upgrading when 6:00am rolls around? Is it through their regular upgrade process?

wow I surprised myself. I’ve been upgrading every year since the iPhone 4 and this year I’m skipping and keeping my 6S for now. My concern is not even the jack issue but the new home button which is not a button anymore. The initial feedback is that most don’t like it. I need to try it in store.

Ordered iPhone Plus Jet Black 128GB the second the store went online and got 2-3 weeks delivery, as a back up i went to a local Best Buy store and pre ordered the same model there, first on the list.
I did the same. 2nd on the list!
I recall in the past few years the initial shipping times were way longer than what they turned out to be. The last two years, as was the case this year, I was in there at 2 or 3 min after it went live and got a 2-3 week shipping date. After a few days this went down to getting it on launch day. Maybe this will happen again?

No problem. They said I can purchase it outright but I’m not sure if it’s unlocked. They asked me what carrier I’m with still. But Rogers is only $50 to unlock an iPhone so that’s what I’ll do if it’s locked.

If i remember right they don’t sell unlocked phones. I believe i tried to do this with the iphone 5 and they told me “they don’t sell phones outright” Maybe policy has changed ?
You are right. I just got back from Best Buy and apparently they do not allow buying the iPhone 7 outright. And yes they don’t sell unlocked phones. Phones they sell need to be associated to a carrier.
The only phones Best Buy sells unlocked or outright, are those cheapo phones that you’ve never heard of and a couple of Blackberry’s. They gave you bad information.
Shoot, are you positive? I don’t know how they can not sell one to me after I paid a $50 deposit and told them I want to buy it outright. The girl said that they do allow some to be sold outright but most on contracts.. At least I also pre-ordered one on Apple.ca in case they don’t own up to what they told me.
I would definitely double check. It’s not official Best Buy policy to sell phones off-contract; they always require a new sign-up or contract renewal. But maybe this individual store is being more customer-friendly. I definitely wouldn’t rely on it, but hopefully they’ll follow-through. Maybe try calling again and asking what time you can go by and pick up your phone as an opportunity to re-confirm with them that they’re selling it to you outright. Good luck!
Try going to the Apple Reservation system online on the morning of the 17th at 8AM. I always had luck getting the exact model I wanted reserved and waiting for me in store. Even for the high demand colours.

Where are you located? You may well get one in the reservation link. The Toronto Eaton Centre Apple Store still had a fair number of phones available (7’s, no Plus’es) this morning in black, gold and rose gold.
Edmonton. 7 Plus 128 Jet Black is not available anywhere. Also, I have to wait till the 1st week of October before I can buy it outright.
Oh yeah, Jet Black is going to be really hard to get. But I’d suggest having a good look at the matte black. That’s what I did after hearing the scratch warning and I think I actually think it looks better. There are a couple of videos out there that show a side by side comparison of both and I have to say, while both are gorgeous, I prefer the look of the matte black.
You make a good point. I think I should be open to matte too. If I get a matte I’d suffice with 32GB. Saves me some money too. At this point, both colours are available only by November. I do hope I can get one before Christmas.
so I bought the gold 32GB, should I have just paid the extra to get the 128GB? I currently use a 5s 16GB and get by fine, I don’t d/l much music and own an ipad so I didn’t really think I needed the 128GB of storage. I have an ipad I use when I am at home, am I missing out by only getting the cheaper 32 GB?
I would say your good . Especially if you haven’t even filled up a 16gb yet . Nothing really your missing out on by just getting a 32. I how ever am over 32GB lots of apps , pictures, music etc.. So i went for the 128gb.
thank you, the phone itself was a bit of a high $ purchase item for me, so I didn’t want to keep adding on extra fees if I didn’t need to.
Yeah i hear ya, I added on the Apple Care (extra $169) I do take good care of my phones however i do work in a manufacturing plant and accidents can and have happened to me.
I was about to purchase it also bc I normally would add this, but I called my credit card company and asked them if they covered iPhones in their free extended warranty insurance that comes with my card, which they told me it mirrors the manufacturers warranty for an addition year (as long as I pay in full for the purchase with said card), so I opted not to buy the AppleCare + this time around.
The good thing about AppleCare+ is that it also covers 2 incidents of accidental damage. So, if you drop your phone or smash it up, with AppleCare, they will repair or replace it for you. The warranty only covers things that might go wrong that shouldn’t.
That said, AppleCare is pretty pricey. What are the chances you’re going to cause so much damage to your phone that the almost $200 (with tax) and the repair fee, will be worth it?
If you do change your mind though, you have the whole first year to get it. As long as it’s covered under the original warranty, you can still purchase AppleCare.
Not true. Unfortunately, AppleCare+ now need to be activated within 30 days of the purchase date. They changed their policies a couple of years ago sadly.

You got me to go look it up. Just read the fine print. It’s actually within 60 days of your iPhone purchase. Maybe they changed it again with iPhone 7 release. Still kind of sucks. It was nice to be able to space it out a bit more after plunking down such a huge amount for the phone.
Actually in my situation I had dropped my phone and did pretty bad damage got a replacement, about a month later i was in Dominican and got a little too white girl wasted and dropped my phone again lol. Luckily i had the applecare tho. I think for the $170 it is pricey but end the end you know your covered for 2 years if anything happens to your $1000+ phone.
Yeah, it depends totally on how you are normally with your phone. Apple Care is almost $200 up front and then, aside from just screen damage, it’s another $145 (with tax) to get repaired. So, almost $350 for the first “free” repair. As you say, it can work out to be a great deal, or it can be a bit of waste. It’s definitely something you need to consider based on your own personal use habits.

apple always plays that game. they knew with the GOLD iphone 5s people go crazy for it so the didnt make enough now they do it with the PIANO BLACK iphone.
I don’t think they do it deliberately. They would want to sell every single phone that they can, as fast as they can. More likely that they have a production issue with the new finish.
apple wants that we talk about it and be proud to own the newest colour so everyone can see it. anyways i always love gold and apple is the only phone maker that can make a golden phone. so sad but true.
Either that or they make all colours in the same quantities and the newest colour just happens to sell out first because it’s new.

Ordered a 128GB Black 7 plus at 12:04am and at first before check out it said Sept 16th then while checking out it changed to Sept 28-30. Not sure how 4 seconds made the difference but I will say of all the times I’ve pre-ordered in the past 4 years this time seemed to be the hardest to get on launch day.
So much for so many people complaining about no headphone jack with so many sold out.
Personally I’ve been using Bluetooth headphones for nearly 2 years and haven’t used my Apple EarPods so this lacking feature won’t be missed by me.

So yeah, I downsized. 7 instead of 7 Plus. Let’s hope it will be ok. I never really liked how huge the phone was. It’s going to be an adjustment for sure. I also went with (matte) black because it’s definitively more beautiful. Can’t wait for Friday!!!

I was thinking the same but that Camera could be a game changer . Over the last two years tho i have gotten used to the bigger iPhone . Ive used my wifes iPhone 6 a few times just feels like a iPhone 4 to me now.
The iphone camera is simply meh. sorry, but this is an apple thing. next year it will be better and Apple will catch up to the galaxy 7 but Samsung will be ahead next year with the galaxy 8 and the iphone 8 still won’t be as good as the Samsung. that’s just the way Samsung and Apple are.
