Apple Confirms iOS 10 Update Problem, Affected “Small Number” of Users

Seriously, what’s an iOS update without some sort of problem or SNAFU? Earlier this morning, iOS 10.0.1 was released, and for some who did an over-the-air update, it ‘bricked’ their devices into the “plus into iTunes” screen. The problem was easily fixed via plugging into iTunes, but for us, we just had to restore our iPhone 6s Plus.

Apple has now acknowledged the problem, issuing the following statement to iMore’s Rene Ritchie:

We experienced a brief issue with the software update process, affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability. The problem was quickly resolved and we apologize to those customers. Anyone who was affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for help.

Click here to read our fix on how to address this iOS 10 update bug. You will need to plug your device into iTunes and install the new update. If that update doesn’t work, then you’ll need to restore.
