SoundCloud Launches ‘Go’ Streaming Service In Canada

SoundCloud, the massively-popular audio distribution and streaming service, is now offering its licensed paid-for-music subscription service to Canada. After launching SoundCloud Go, the company’s subscription service, in the United States earlier this year, the company has today, delivered the service to Canadian customers.

The service, which first rolled out last May in the United States, begins service Wednesday in Canada at the same $9.99 CAD monthly price point. Users will have unlimited access to a massive library of licensed music from several major record labels, as well access to an “offline mode” which enables subscribers to listen to audio without using their precious cellphone data.

“SoundCloud Go will provide Canadians with the largest and most diverse music and audio catalogue in the world,” said Alexander Liung, SoundCloud co-founder and CEO. “Subscribers will be able to enjoy tracks from emerging creators, new tracks from indies, global hits as well as hits in the making, all in one place. We know Canadians are passionate about their music so we’re very much looking forward to rolling out this new experience across the country.”

SoundCloud Go is currently available on the web, Google Play Store, and the App Store.

iOS users are told to visit soundcloud.com/go to sign up in order to get the $9.99 price, otherwise it’s $13.99 if you subscribe via in-app purchase (to compensate for Apple’s subscription cut).

Canadians also get a 30-day free trial, except for those in Quebec, unfortunately.
