Drake’s ‘More Life’ Sets Record 90 Million Streams on Apple Music in 24 Hours

Canada’s rap darling and former Degrassi High basketball superstar, Drake, released a new album on March 18, titled More Life. The album was not an Apple Music exclusive, but it still set a new streaming record according to Apple, in a statement to The Verge:

Drake’s latest project More Life was streamed 89.9 million times in its first 24 hours on Apple Music, breaking the single-day album streams record for every music service, Apple tells The Verge.

Apple Music surpassed Spotify in first-day streams, as the latter ‘only’ streamed the album 61.3 million times, still a record its own. Apple Music streamed the album 89.9 million times with 80 million fewer users compared to Spotify.

More Life also helped boost Beats 1, as their Saturday episode of OVO Sound Radio was the best to date, setting a record, according to Apple.

The most popular song on Apple Music was “Free Smoke”, followed by “Portland” and “Passionfruit”. Looks like Drake is set to shatter more streaming records with his latest album.
