Videotron VoLTE Arrives in iOS 11.1 and Carrier 30.1 Update for iPhone Users
Yesterday we told you Videotron had started to launch VoLTE (voice over LTE), as the company’s website saw their FAQ page go live, hinting at a widespread rollout.
Today with the release of iOS 11.1, it also brought a Carrier 30.1 update for Videotron users, bringing VoLTE support.
VoLTE brings support for clearer audio calls thanks to wideband audio support, plus faster calls as they are handled over the LTE network instead of 3G. This also means users will be able to make voice calls and surf data over LTE simultaneously.
As you can see from the screenshot below, iPhone in Canada reader Marc shows us VoLTE is now live on his iPhone 8. Others have confirmed VoLTE also works for iPhone 8 Plus.

Again, to get VoLTE working, you’ll need to have a VoLTE SIM card from Videotron, while enable Voice & Data over LTE on your iPhone by going to the following in Settings:
Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Enable LTE > Voice & Data > ON
Earlier today, Videotron also mentioned on Twitter VoLTE is available for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus only, but it seems iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus get VoLTE too (as they should).
Are you seeing VoLTE on your iPhone 7/7 Plus and iPhone 8/8 Plus? Any iPhone 6/6s users seeing VoLTE?

6s not seeing it …..
I am going to buy iPhone X this Friday !
Nice
I’m not seeing VoLTE on my iPhone 7… still switching to 3G even if I have iOS 11.1 with carrier 30.1… but I’m outside of Montreal right now…
I will try again later tonight when back in Montreal region.
Koodo has been given authorization to implement VoLTE a few years ago. I’m not sure about Public Mobile but it looks like Telus is reluctant to implement it with their MVNO brands. This is another example where you get what you pay for.
No support for iPhone 6S yet.
Make sure you go to Settings->general->About and get the carrier update in case that’s the only thing.
Side note: Rogers pushed out a 30.1 update too. Not sure what it changes. I do so wish they gave descriptive change logs… Actually I wonder if this enables VoLTE Rogers users roaming on Videotron… (I live in BC so it’s kind of irrelevant to me)
Yeah don’t worry already done, thanks for the advice though. iPhone 6S still not working. 7/7 Plus, 8/8 Plus working very well with me.
Ok… I gotta ask… do you work in a store? Have a big family? An iPhone collector?
I work in electronics and need to test our products on every phone… hope that helps 🙂
Oh it does help, it’s situations like these that causes https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/news/sleep-medicine-journal-teens-getting-less-sleep-with-smartphones/
Sorry? What does an article about teens and sleep have to do with any of this? There seems to be a missing link somewhere…
Goodnight now haha
Was kind of a “was going to keep me up at night” kind of joke… but I guess it was too much joke and not enough context. 🙁
Aaaah gotcha 🙂
apparently, my iPhone X preorder is blocking the addition of VoLTE on my account for some reason even if the order is for a different line. I’m currently on the phone with CS so they can fix this for me
Aha! Now it makes sense… well not really but at least you have an explanation!
Got it working after at least 30 minutes on the online chat
On a side note, the Fido 30.1 carrier update restored VoLTE on my iPhone 6S.
Funny world we live in… enjoy!
I’m with Videotron, with a iPhone 7Plus, on 11.1, on the carrier update 30.1, and I still don’t have VoLTE.
Videotron give me a new Sim card, and they checked my account, everything seems to be ok, yet I don’t have VoLTE.
Anyone have any idea as to why?
Update: I solve the problem by doing our hard reboot, by holding the volume and power button and doing a hard reset on my phone, and now the VoLTE works…. yahhhh
