Nomad iPhone X Leather Cases Roundup: Save 15% Off Now with This Coupon

Nomad refreshed their case line up this year to bring forth new leather options for iPhone X users. The company is well known for their Apple accessories, which started out with a Lightning cable keychain years ago, but has since expanded to cables, chargers, Apple Watch accessories, wallets and more.

The company sent us their new Clear Folio, Rugged Case, Card Case, Clear Case and Leather Folio iPhone X cases to check out, so below are pictures and some brief impressions of our hands-on experience with them.

Nomad makes it very easy to unbox a case, as all you have to do is pull a tab at the bottom of each package and the case securely sits inside, resting within a piece of plastic.

Below are images of both the front and back of these cases, which all are adorned with vegetable tanned leather from Chicago-based Horween, a company dating back to 1905, one of the olden running tanneries in the United States.

First up, we have the Clear Folio for iPhone X, which will house your newest iPhone in a clear polycarbonate case, offering 6 feet (1.82m) of drop protection, but also includes room to hold up to 6 credit cards plus a cash slot. This will work with wireless charging and is priced at $49.95 USD.

The Horween leather is really nice, soft to the touch and smells great. There are thinner cut outs around the leather for your volume buttons, so you can still press them when the cover is closed over your iPhone X.

The leather extends around the side and onto the back. This case does add some bulk to your iPhone X, but if you are looking to protect your investment, it’s a trade off one has to keep in mind.

Next is the Rugged case for iPhone X, again with Horween leather, wrapped around its Dow Dupont polycarbonate frame fused to a rubber TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) bumper. There’s a microfibre lining on the inside to protect your iPhone X. Again, the leather adds grip to your phone and it’s a very snug fit when your iPhone X is inside (it can be difficult to pop your iPhone X out), adding confidence should you ever drop your phone. You can see the leather will pick up some scratches, which adds to its “patina” over time.

The front lip is raised to protect your iPhone X display, while the corners are ready to absorb shock from a 10 foot (3m) drop as well. All this protection comes with some bulk though, as I found it made my iPhone X feel ‘wider’ than it should, despite the nice feeling of holding a leather case. Priced at $44.95 USD.

Below is the Wallet Card case for iPhone X, which offers room for up to 4 credit cards, in a case similar to the Rugged case as seen above. This case offers up to 6 feet of drop protection and will still charge wirelessly (up to 2 cards max). Again, I found my iPhone X fitting very tight in this case, which ensured it would survive any drop. The leather again feels really nice to the touch. Priced at $44.95 USD.

The front of the Wallet Card case is also raised, to protect your display from drops:

Next up, is the Clear case for iPhone X. This case again has clear polycarbonate fused to a TPE bumper, but has a leather back up just over half of the case, while its interior is also partially lined with microfibre. This was one of my favourite cases as it was quite a different case, style wise, while offering again up to 6 feet of drop protection. Priced at $39.95 USD.

Here’s a shot from the side of the Clear case for iPhone X. The sides are frosted and not clear:

Last but not least, we have Leather Folio for iPhone X, which is fully-wrapped from front to back in leather, while has room for up to 6 cards and a cash slot. This classic folio leather case looks great and feels great, but does add some bulk. The inside is lined with microfibre as well to protect the back of your iPhone X. Priced at $49.95 USD.

Overall, these iPhone X cases from Nomad are of excellent quality. They look good and the Horween leather is really nice. I would wouldn’t bat an eye if my iPhone X fell off a table inside one of these cases.

The downsides to this protection? The cases are on the bulky side, and also fit so snugly it can be a challenge to remove your iPhone (which is not exactly a bad thing in an extreme drop). We had to push out from our rear camera to pop our phone out of the cases. They’re also on the pricey side unlike budget cases, plus the Canadian exchange rate doesn’t help. But Nomad cases are well made and definitely will last, given the build quality.
