Apple Tops Fortune’s List for World’s Most Admired Companies for the 11th Year

For the 11th year in a row, Apple has topped Fortune’s list of the World’s Most Admired Companies.

Apple finished ahead of Amazon, which was the runner-up for the second year in a row, while Google’s parent company Alphabet, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, and Starbucks round out the top five.

Apple though ranked first in every subcategory, such as innovation, social responsibility, financial soundness, and quality of products and services. Corporations eligible for the Fortune list were picked from the 1,000 biggest U.S. firms in terms of revenue, combined with foreign Global 500 businesses with revenue over $10 billion.

The only other high-tech company in the top 10 was seventh-place Microsoft. Windows, Office, and Skype are still de facto in many homes and businesses, and the Xbox One is one of three major game consoles. Here is the complete ranking of the top ten most admired companies as ranked by Fortune:

  1. Apple
  2. Amazon
  3. Alphabet
  4. Berkshire Hathaway
  5. Starbucks
  6. Disney
  7. Microsoft
  8. Southwest
  9. FedEx
  10. JPMorgan

Apple’s dominance in the tech space has ranked it third in the Fortune 500, and ninth in the Global 500.
