Last month, it was reported that iPhone X owners are unable to use Face ID as an authentication method for the “Ask to Buy” feature, which allows parents to approve their kids’ iOS purchases and downloads, despite the fact that the functionality is available on Touch ID devices.
Starting with iOS 11.3 however, Apple will finally add the ability to approve a purchase on a parent’s device using Face ID (via 9to5Mac).
“It looks like this is going to change soon, according to our testing of the first iOS 11.3 beta. With this beta, we have been able to approve a purchase on a parent’s device using Face ID. The first time a purchase approval request is received, the parent must enter their password. After entering the password for the first time, iOS asks if the parent would like to enable Face ID for future approvals.”
iOS 11.3 beta testers are reporting that once you have enabled Face ID for iTunes family purchases, whenever a new approval request is received, tapping the “Buy” button launches Face ID authentication instead of the standard password prompt.

Glad to see they’re implementing this.
However I know we’ll see reports later of parents trying to sue Apple over payments their kids accessed with their faces heh.
