Fitbit to Use Google Cloud to Share Data with Doctors

Earlier this morning, Fitbit announced that they plan to use Google’s new Cloud Healthcare API to help make customer data available to their doctors.

For Google, this means that they can continue to push along to their goals of taking a major step into the world of health, which is accounted for $3.3 trillion in spending last year in the United States alone.

For Fitbit, the plan means that they will move one step closer to making their products usable for healthcare. The company’s CEO James Park told TechCrunch that health was set to become a large part of their plans moving forward. Park’s goal is to use their platform to make health tracking ubiquitous.

Doctors would then be able to actively monitor all their patients’ data from anywhere. There is no word as to when this might actually be available for customers and doctors.
