“Bell Fibe brought Gigabit Internet speeds to Canada in 2015, and we’re proud to leverage the world’s best network technology to take Fibe even further with a new top speed of 1.5 Gbps for our home and small-business customers,” said Rizwan Jamal, President of Bell Residential and Small Business, in a statement.

The new Fibe 1.5 Gbps plan is now available in Ontario, with upcoming rollouts for Quebec, Manitoba and Atlantic provinces. The service leverages Bell’s fibre to the premises (FTTP) network and uses the Home Hub 3000 modem/router, which is currently deployed for existing customers of Gigabit Fibe.

“Bell is already ranked as Canada’s fastest Internet provider, and we continue to lead the way in network innovation. Enabling broad consumer access to the fastest Internet speeds as well as Canada’s overall competitiveness in communications on the world stage, our latest Fibe speed advancement is another step forward in the ongoing evolution of Canada’s broadband infrastructure,” added Jamal.

Bell originally launched Gigabit Fibe Internet back in 2015 for customers in Ontario and Quebec.
