During the last week of August, Telus prepaid brand, Public Mobile, offered its existing customers promo plans to migrate over to postpaid sister company Koodo. The plans were priced at $35/5GB and $40/8GB, which included unlimited Canada-wide calling and the usual extras—plus bonus $180 in credits.
The deadline to jump on these migration offers was September 4, 2018, but now it appears some Public Mobile customers are getting texts to note “due to popular demand”, they’re being extended.
The text message being sent out to eligible Public Mobile customers reads as follows (via RFD):
Due to popular demand, we are extending your offer for a limited time! Switch to Koodo and get 5GB of data for $35/month OR 8GB of data for $40/month. Plus $180 in bill credits. Plans include unlimited Canada-wide minutes & unlimited international text. You may be eligible for a $0 phone with the Koodo Tab. Switch online at https://Koo.do/choosekoodo or at your nearest Koodo location and use promo code JOINKOODOAUGDATA. Offer available for 1647xxxxxxx. You’re included on the list for Public Mobile offers and deals.
Some Public Mobile customers who jumped on this migration offer at Best Buy ended up with some lucrative deals, such as getting an iPhone 6s for $0 upfront on Tab Medium, plus the $180 Koodo bill credits, $50 refer-a-friend credit, and $300 worth of Best Buy gift cards.
Last December saw a feeding frenzy when carriers offered a promo $60/10GB plan. No word whether it will return, but surely another promo will pop up for the holidays. In the meantime, this Koodo migration offer is not bad if you received the text message from Public Mobile.
