PayPal Canada: Gamers in Canada Spend an Average of 52 Hours per Month Playing Online Games

According to new insights that were shared by PayPal Canada and SuperData Research, gamers in Canada are spending about 52 hours per month playing games and more than half of them are women.

Gamers in Canada are on average eight years younger than their counterparts in the United States. More than 45 percent of Canadian games said they will play a mobile or online game every day.

Over the next five years, PwC predicts that revenues in the Canadian gaming industry to be $40 million. Canada’s online gaming market has been steadily growing over the past several years. In a statement, President of PayPal Canada Paul Parisi said:

“Online gaming is exploding in both Canada and globally. PayPal processed more than $12 billion globally in online game purchases with a 23 per cent increase year-over-year. Recognizing growth potentials, we’re making our checkout options easier for gamers and any online platforms, storefronts and stores that offer gaming.”

In Canada, smartphones topped the devices chosen when it comes to playing online games, with a total of 66 percent. Tablets and desktops came in second and third place respectively.
