Bell Launches Cloud-Based Virtual Network Services Platform

Bell has announced this morning the launch of its Virtual Network Services (VNS) platform for enterprise business customers, which the company says is the first cloud-based VNS in Canada.

The company’s VNS offers enterprises businesses a “catalogue of on-demand network functions that reside securely in Bell’s private cloud,” explains the company. Bell’s VNS will allow enterprise customers to transform hardware-based networks to virtualized, software-driven networks.

“Bell VNS is a revolutionary way for business customers to adapt their networks quickly and efficiently while reducing their hardware expenses,” said Tom Little, President of Bell Business Markets, in a statement. “The Bell VNS service experience offers a new level of control, flexibility and automation through software-driven networks.”

Bell also announced today it will be the first Canadian service provider to offer business customers a managed SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network) solution powered by Cisco Viptela, which is the first function offered by the company’s end-to-end managed VNS platform. The announcement was made at the Cisco Connect event in Toronto, Ontario.

With this subscription-based consumption model, Bell says enterprise customers can adjust their network needs on the fly, get products and services to market faster, while also lowering hardware investment costs. Bell VNS can also relieve businesses from managing their own WAN, with a minimum 99.9% uptime guarantee.
