Freedom Mobile VoLTE Launches for Galaxy Note 8 and Note 9

Shaw’s Freedom Mobile has continued its staggered rollout of VoLTE (Voice over LTE) for various smartphones, and today’s launch has reached Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy Note 9.

VoLTE allows for simultaneous voice and data calls over LTE networks, meaning phone calls now connect quicker and have higher sound quality, compared to being routed over slower 3G networks.

So far, Freedom has rolled out VoLTE for the LG G6 and G7, Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, Galaxy A8, Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, Moto G6 and E5, Sony Xperia models, and now the Galaxy Note 8 and Note 9.

Apple iPhone users are still waiting for VoLTE to launch, but Freedom Mobile previously confirmed it would debut “in the coming months”.

The network has also started to roll out its expanded LTE network, deploying its 700MHz spectrum, making for improved coverage in hard to reach areas such as parkades, basements, elevators and more.
