A Look at Apple Champs-Élysées, Apple’s New Flagship Store in Paris
Apple’s latest flagship store is set to open in Paris on the famed Champs-Élysées.
Apple today previewed its new Parisian retail store scheduled to open this coming Sunday, November 18, at 12 pm local time. Located on the famed Parisian shopping avenue known for its theaters, cafés, and luxury shops, Apple Champs-Élysées will replace the previous Apple store that was located beneath the pyramid of the iconic Louvre museum.
The store eschews the glass and modernism of the company’s newly built stores for vintage grandeur, mixed with a few high tech flourishes. It is housed in a Haussmann-era apartment building, dating back to the 1800s. The company has carefully restored the building’s facade and entryway, with the exterior’s Burgundy stone carried throughout the building.
“Several of the design features also serve an environmental purpose,” explains Apple. “A sculptural roof light covers the courtyard, providing sunlight to the space below and generating renewable energy with integrated photovoltaic panels. An integrated rainwater collection system provides water for the bathrooms, trees and green walls.”
Chief design officer Jony Ive said that Apple’s “first priority was to honor the history of the building, while thoughtfully updating it to create spaces both grand and intimate.” The new flagship store will certainly be the Cupertino company’s most impressive in France, and among Apple’s most significant locations in all of Europe.
As Today at Apple sessions continue to become a cornerstone of Apple’s modern retail experience, Apple Champs-Élysées will feature sessions which focus on photography, music, coding, and design. In the first week, Apple Champs-Élysées will host sessions with popular musicians, filmmakers, animators and more.
