New Toronto Eaton Centre Apple Store Confirmed, Reveals Building Permit

Toronto’s Eaton Centre is set to gain a new, larger Apple Store, as a city building permit has confirmed the move, which was speculated last week.

According to MacRumors, the city building permit was approved on January 11, 2019, with work detailed as “interior alterations.” The description reads “proposal for interior alterations to unit CRU2105A to move existing retail store from 2nd floor to ground floor ‘Apple Store’”.

The new Apple Store in Eaton Centre will take over the current spot of Abercrombie & Fitch on the ground floor, doubling the square footage of its current location on the second floor, from about 5,000 to just under 11,000, based on mall floor plans.

But according to a tip from Toronto photographer Pedro Marques, Scotch & Soda and Baby Gap, which flank the Abercrombie & Fitch location, are apparently set to vacate, meaning Apple’s new store on the ground floor could grow up to 15,000 square feet, tripling its current size.

A new Apple Store in Eaton Centre most likely would follow the iPhone maker’s new retail store design ethos, leveraging Today at Apple sessions and making stores a commonplace location to visit, throughout the week.
