Waze iOS App Launches iHeartRadio Integration in Canada

Waze has officially announced support for the iHeartRadio app within its Audio Player, a feature which launched back in the fall of 2018.

With the built in Audio Player within Waze, users can easily launch their favourite music apps easily, including Spotify, Scribd, Stitcher, Deezer and now iHeartRadio. The integration of these music apps allows drivers to control tunes within the Waze app, and not jump back and forth between apps.

A Waze spokesperson told iPhone in Canada the new integration today “will allow Wazers to stream their favourite iHeartRadio stations without foregoing Waze directions and alerts. All they have to do is download the latest version of iHeartRadio and sync it to Waze through the Waze Audio Player – it’s that easy!”

To add iHeartRadio to Waze, launch the navigation app, tap the music icon in the upper right, tap settings, then tap ‘Install’ iHeartRadio if you don’t have the app already. You’ll be prompted to download iHeartRadio from the App Store and create an account.

iHeartRadio rights in Canada are held by Bell Media, a deal signed back in 2016, a move made to seamlessly offer the company’s radio stations, music streaming channels and other podcasts to listeners.

Update: Michele Laven, President of Strategic Partnerships Group for iHeartMedia, told iPhone in Canada in a statement, “This integration gives drivers a convenient, quick and easy way to access the iHeartRadio content they love, keeping them connected to their local communities, favorite on-air personalities and beyond, no matter what their final destination is.”
