Bell, Virgin Wireless Outage Affecting Text Messages for Customers [u]

Bell outage map

Bell and Virgin Mobile wireless customers are dealing with a service outage right now, with many users unable to send or receive text messages over the LTE network (but 3G appears to be a workaround).

According to Down Detector, recent reports have come from mainly users in Ontario, while users are also noting the problem exists in B.C. as well.

Bell Support is informing customers “We are currently experiencing a disruption with wireless service in your area. Our technical staff are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.”

Are you dealing with this text message outage on Bell/Virgin?

Update March 21, 2019, 7:35 AM PDT: Looks like Bell still has some issues with their LTE network this morning for some users. Bell Support is telling customers they “Apologize for the issue.” and “We are aware of the issue and it is currently being investigated by our internal team and should be restored as quickly as possible.”

An hour ago, Bell Support was saying “The issue has been resolved” but now it looks like there are still issues. Customers are being told to reboot their devices and toggle off LTE to send and receive text messages again.
