
Raptors vs. Warriors NBA Finals Game 1 Reaches Record 7.4 Million Canadians on Sportsnet
Rogers Sportsnet has released data from yesterday’s historic Toronto Raptors versus Golden State Warriors Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
According to Sportsnet, 7.4 million total Canadians watched the Raptors beat the Warriors, making it the “biggest audience ever for NBA game in Canada.”
Sportsnet data says Game 1 saw an average audience of 3.3 million viewers, the biggest ever for an NBA game in Canada. As the Raptors clinched their win, audience levels peaked at 4.1 million viewers at 8:35 pm PDT/11:35 pm EDT.
Yesterday’s NBA viewing record in Canada joins two other record viewing games:
- May 25, 2019 – Eastern Conference Final: Raptors vs. Bucks, Game 6 – average audience of 3.1 million viewers
- May 12, 2019 – NBA Playoffs, Round 2: Raptors vs. 76ers, Game 7 – average audience of 2.2 million viewers
SNNow.ca offered live streaming of Game 1 of the Raptors versus the Warriors, available starting at $9.99 for a 7-day pass. We’ve reached out to Sportsnet for sign up data, but given the Sportsnet iOS app is currently the #1 free app downloaded in the App Store, you can bet there were plenty of paid registrations.
Sportsnet will show Game 3 and Games 5 and 7 if necessary. Games 2, 4 and 6 will be shown on Bell Media’s TSN, which offers live streaming through TSN Direct.
