Earlier today, Rogers announced new Infinite plans, offering unlimited full-speed LTE data, starting at $75 for 10GB, with speeds throttled beyond allotted amounts. These new plans are launching on June 13, 2019, for new and existing customers.
When asked if Telus was set to launch unlimited plans of their own in response, the company told iPhone in Canada via email they were set to launch a $75/15GB BYOD promo plan tomorrow.
A Telus spokesperson said in a statement, “We’re always making enhancements to our customer experience. Launching tomorrow, we have a promotional offer for new, renewing and existing BYOD customers who can get 10GB plus 5GB bonus data starting at $75 for BYOD on Canada’s largest and fastest network with the best customer service.”
Beyond your 15GB of LTE data, Telus says customers “will be charged our usual pay-per-use overage rate of $10/100MB.”
So Telus will offer a $75 plan with 10GB with a 5GB data bonus for BYOD customers. Depending on how you look at it, the Telus offering may be better than the Rogers Infinite plan, since data beyond 10GB is not throttled at 256 kilobits download. A data plan of 15GB should be plenty for the ‘average’ Canadian user.
In terms of pricing, Shaw’s Freedom Mobile currently offers a $60/14GB plan, which beats both Rogers and Telus. However, incumbents have better wireless coverage versus Freedom Mobile outside of major markets.

Update: A Rogers spokesperson contacted iPhone in Canada to emphasize their new Infinite plans are here to stay, unlike the Telus promotional plan (available until July 2), which is only a time-limited offer with 5GB bonus data only available for 24 months.
