PowerBeats4 Icon Discovered in iOS 13.3.1 Firmware Update
Apple is apparently planning to unveil the next-generation PowerBeats4 headphones, judging by an icon uncovered within a new version of iOS 13 on Tuesday.
According to a new report from MacRumors, images discovered in the iOS 13.3.1 firmware update reveal a tweaked design that’s a cross between the Powerbeats Pro and the Powerbeats3. Most notably, the wire will run from earhook to earhook rather than from earbud to earbud.
“The Powerbeats4 appear to have a more curved design that’s similar to the ?Powerbeats Pro?, with the same angled in-ear fit and wraparound earhooks,” reads the report. “The Powerbeats4, like the Powerbeats3, will not be wire-free, though, and a wire is depicted trailing down from the bottom of the earhook.”
These won’t be truly wireless headphones, however, keeping in line with the Powerbeats 3 insofar that it will have a wire that connects the earbuds, but the connection to the phone itself will be wireless.
The Powerbeats4 should feature an H1 chip and ‘Hey Siri’ support. It’s not currently clear when Apple will look to release Powerbeats4, but it has been a long time since Powerbeats3 arrived back in October 2016 alongside the iPhone 7.
