The Crave app for iPhone and iPad has been updated to let subscribers download offline shows in high definition quality.

According to version 3.28.0 of the Crave iOS app, released yesterday, the version history notes explain, “New Feature: High Quality Downloads in 1080p – Our high quality download toggle now allows you to download your favourite content in 1080p.”

Bell Media owns Crave, which has various subscriptions available for streaming content, including shows from HBO, Showtime, and Starz, starting at $9.99 CAD per month.

Sadly, the Crave app does not support streaming in 4K on iOS or Apple TV yet. The company last stated in the fall of 2018 a 4K streaming option would be coming “in the near future”.

The Crave FAQ explains the following when it comes to the question, “are programs available on Crave in HD?”:

Yes. Crave strives to offer users the best possible viewing experience. The video quality we deliver will depend on the content and your Internet connection and device. We’ll automatically detect your connection speed and send you the highest quality stream your connection can support.

Last month, the Crave iOS app gained the ability to sync bookmarks, while also added a new card overlay to show episode descriptions and other data.
