IKEA’s Smart Blinds Finally Available to Order Online in Canada

Months after being initially limited to in-person customers only, IKEA’s Fyrtur battery-operated, wireless smart blinds are finally available to order online in Canada for CAD $169.

For those looking to take advantage of Apple HomeKit, Amazon’s Alexa, or Google Assistant also need to buy the TRADFRI gateway separately.

IKEA added Apple HomeKit support to its smart blinds earlier this year, allowing iOS users to either drag the blinds slider in the Home app to raise or lower them or use voice commands with Siri. Basic commands like ‘open the blinds’ or ‘close the blinds’ are also supported.

Users can also use the TRADFRI gateway and IKEA Home smart app to control through Google Home or Amazon Alexa and create several groups of wireless blinds and control them in different ways.

IKEA’s smart blinds can also help you wake up to natural light in the morning or wind down at night without having to leave your bed.
