Apple Powerbeats Pro 2 Pass SIRIM Certification

Apple’s Powerbeats Pro 2 have been spotted again during another filing. Only a short week after being leaked by an FCC filing, the wireless earbuds have apparently cleared its certification by SIRUM (Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia).

According to a report from MySmartPrice, the model numbers A2453 and A2454 (left earbud and right earbud) were listed on Malaysia’s SIRUM database. The two are the exact same model numbers that were certified by the FCC when the iPhone SE launched.

Unfortunately, there is not much else to go by from the database listings. The product is listed as a “wireless earphone (hybrid-wearable)”. It’s safe to assume the revamped earbuds will work on Bluetooth 2.4Ghz frequency As the Powerbeats Pro 2 is truly wireless, the model description citing Bluetooth support is expected.

With now two certifications in place, Apple’s unannounced follow up to 2019’s Powerbeats Pro could be revealed and released as soon as next month. The original Powerbeats Pro earbuds launched in May, hitting close a year on the market.

It’s anyone’s guess as to exactly what Apple has developed as a followup to the original Powerbeats Pro. Given that the Powerbeats Pro has been positioned as an athletic alternative to the AirPods Pro, expect a few tweaks to service that specific audience.
