Shaw Communications and Rogers have announced they are donating cellphones and voice and data plans to the Ending Violence Association of British Columbia (EVA BC).

The donations will “support increased safety for women and individuals facing gender-based violence throughout BC by providing complimentary cellular phones along with voice and data plans,” explains a press release.

These cellphones and plans will assist those facing domestic abuse, as during the COVID-19 pandemic, anti-violence organizations are noting an increased demand for help and services.

In an issued statement to iPhone in Canada, EVA BC said it “thanks Shaw Communications and Rogers for supporting our work and helping provide a critical lifeline to those living in risk of violence and ensuring they can stay connected to their support networks.”

Back in May, Rogers also donated to various women’s shelters in B.C., providing phones and voice and data plans during the coronavirus pandemic.
