The University of Manitoba and Bell MTS have jointly announced they are “pleased to be able to provide UM students with more affordable access to technology.”
Starting August 31 to September 30, 2020, all UM undergrad and graduate students can get 10GB of bonus data on a flex Data Mobile Internet plan.
Also on discount are mobile internet devices such as the Huawei E8372 and Novatel MiFi 7000, “at a reduced rate.” Both of these mobile internet sticks are priced at $179 and $199 respectively at regular price.
“We know that many students need more data and reliable service in this new remote learning environment,” says Laurie Schnarr, Vice-Provost (Students), in a statement. “That’s why we’ve teamed up with Bell MTS to provide students with affordable Mobile Internet service, including reduced cost on select Mobile Internet devices and bonus data on select plans.”
A Flex plan with Bell MTS starts at $10 per month for up to 100MB of data, $30 per month for up to 500MB of data, $45 for up to 2GB of data, $60 for up to 5GB of data and $85 for up to 10GB of data. The bonus data for UM students is essentially worth $85.
