According to Apple’s official iPhone Repair and Service page for Canada, out-of-warranty repairs for the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro will cost users up to $719 CAD. Listings for these new phones were added to the Repair and Service page ahead of pre-orders for the devices that went live on Friday, October 16.

While the exact amount you have to pay will vary depending on the kind of repairs that need to be made to your device, the listings specify an out-of-warranty repair fee of up to $599 for an iPhone 12, and up to $719 for an iPhone 12 Pro. To put this cost into perspective, you can buy a brand new iPhone SE for $599.

Out-of-warranty screen replacement for an iPhone 12 has an entirely different fee of its own, and will set you back $365 CAD for either the iPhone 12 or the iPhone 12 Pro.

iPhones only come with a one-year limited warranty, and repair fees like these will certainly make anyone want to seriously consider getting AppleCare+ — which is $199 for the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini, and $249 for the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. You’ll probably want to buy a case for iPhone 12 from Amazon before your iPhone 12 comes.

AppleCare+ covers up to 2 instances of accidental damage every 12 months, and you also get priority access to Apple experts via chat or phone.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will be launching in Canada on Friday, October 23, with first pre-orders being delivered same day.
