iPhone 12 vs 12 mini vs 12 Pro vs 12 Pro Max Camera Test [VIDEO]

In a recently published YouTube video, Justine Ezarik (iJustine) conducts a comprehensive camera test on the entire iPhone 12 lineup: the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the iPhone mini.

Right off the bat, Justine discloses the differences between the camera setups on the devices — the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max have three lenses, including a telephoto lens, and also come with LiDAR, whereas the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini only have two lenses (the telephoto lens is absent), and no LiDar sensor.

Furthermore, the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 2.5x telephoto lens (as compared to the Pro’s 2x telephoto lens), a larger sensor for the wide angle lens, and Sensor Shift technology for improved stabilization.

The entire iPhone 12 lineup is capable of capturing video in Dolby Vision HDR, but the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max are capable of capturing Dolby Vision HDR video at 60 FPS, whereas the smaller models are capped at 30 FPS.

Justine found all four devices capable of capturing extremely crisp images with striking detail and depth, and Night Mode — which is available on all four devices — is a godsend for pictures in low-light environments. The Dolby Vision HDR also makes the iPhone 12 family ideal companions for vloggers and videographers.

While the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s camera certainly outshines its siblings (most notably in capturing Dolby Vision HDR video), the camera setups on all four devices are definitively ahead of the curve. When it comes to picking an iPhone 12 variant based on camera performance, there are simply no wrong answers, it appears.
