Bell Canada Bell and Honda Canada announce new connected car par

Bell and Honda Canada announced on a Thursday a partnership for the telecom’s 4G LTE network to power Wi-Fi hotspots within new Honda and Acura vehicles.

“Like many consumers, Honda and Acura customers are looking for more convenient ways to stay connected, and our in-car Wi-Fi Hotspot powered by Bell provides the fast and reliable mobile connections they expect,” said Dave Jamieson, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Honda Canada, in an issued statement.

Wi-Fi hotspots within select Honda and Acura vehicles can connect up to 7 devices, up to 50 feet away from vehicles.

“Bell is proud to partner with Honda and Acura as we serve the growing number of Canadians who want mobile broadband access in their vehicles. Bell Connected Car makes your vehicle a powerful Wi-Fi hotspot, connecting your and your passengers’ devices with high-speed access automatically, just like at home,” said Nauby Jacob, Senior Vice President, Products and Services at Bell Mobility, in a statement.

Both companies say the partnership is an extension of an existing connected car agreement with AT&T.

There’s a free wireless data trial for Honda and Acura customers, that lasts three months or until 3GB of data is used, whichever occurs first. Next, Bell customers need to subscribe to a Connected Car plan for $10 per month, available on Bell Share plans. Bell says there is a 1GB data bonus for 24 months.
