Telus on Tuesday announced it will be investing $14.5 billion across Alberta through 2024, to expand its PureFibre network and also 5G.
The company says the PureFibre expansion will reach over 530,000 homes, while 5G is expected to reach 136 more areas this year, including 31 Indigenous communities.
“On behalf of our 15,000 team members and retirees, TELUS is proud to make this generational investment in Alberta, providing the technology to connect citizens to loved ones, as well as vital resources and information as we continue to navigate the global pandemic,” said Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS, in a statement.
Telus says it will also hire 8,000 Albertans, “primarily in construction, engineering and emerging technologies at Telus and through our vast partner ecosystem now through 2024.”
Yesterday, Telus announced it would invest $13 billion in B.C. to expand PureFibre and 5G as well.
