iOS 14.7 Beta Enables Users to Set HomePod Timer Using Home App

Apple has released the first beta for iOS 14.7 for developers. Although the beta is said to not include any major functionality changes or bring anything significant to the table, one new feature worth mentioning is the addition of being able to use the Home app to set and control a HomePod timer.

According to a report from MacRumors, the iOS 14.7 beta gives way to the ability to set a HomePod time via the Home app on iPhone and iPad. Having a timer running on the HomePod has been possible since iOS 12. However, users had to utilize Siri in order to set the timer. It appears as though moving forward, the Home app can be used as an alternate way of setting one or multiple timers on the HomePod.

As MacRumors describes, when navigating into the Home app, users with access to iOS 14.7 will now see an option to create and set a timer. The option is said to be available right below the HomePod alarms option. As a user creates a timer, the app will ask if the user wants to create a designated name for it. Once set, the user can monitor the timer’s countdown on the app and even cancel it if they wish to do so. It’s been noted that the feature is likely unfinished as some of the labels are incomplete.

Of course, users will need to have access to the iOS 14.7 beta in order to play around with the new feature. The HomePod Software 14.7 must also be installed.
