Telus, the Kanata North Business Association (KNBA) and CENGN Canada’s Centre of Excellence in Next Generation Networks (CENGN), announced a new 5G Innovation Zone in Hub350 on Wednesday, with the latter part of the Kanata North Technology Park in Ottawa, Ontario.
The new 5G Innovation Hub will “leverage emerging technology advancements including edge computing, network slicing, and IoT commercialization to drive the Canada of tomorrow,” explained Telus in a press release.
“The 5G Innovation Zone through Hub350 will allow some of the country’s greatest innovators to leverage new IoT technologies to improve upon solutions for public safety, autonomous vehicles, medical technologies, manufacturing automation, and positive outcomes for Canadians overall,” said Ibrahim Gedeon, Chief Technology Officer at TELUS, in an issued statement.
“Investments like these help to generate sustainable financial and intellectual growth for all of Canada. Partnering with the KNBA and Hub350 coincides with our vision to address real customer problems and drive our economy forward through our world-leading technology by developing Canadian solutions and intellectual property for our customers through various 5G pilot programs,” added Gedeon.
The Innovation Hub will allow companies to test 5G networks with real-world use cases when it comes to autonomous vehicles, smart cities, medical technologies, AR/VR-enabled tech for connected workers and more, for example.
