Beaver First Nation announced the launch of a new iOS and Android app for its members on Monday.

Located roughly 50 km east of High Level, Alberta, Beaver First Nation consists of the Boyer River 164 and Child Lakes 164A reserves, with over 1,000 registered members.

The new Beaver First Nation mobile app will allow the Band Administration to directly connect with its members to deliver important news, COVID-19 updates and more.

The app was developed in partnership with Aivia Design and Technology Engineering and can send out news, events, documents, fillable forms, surveys and more via push notifications, right to smartphones.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has been a major test of our existing communications system’s ability to get vital information about protocols, vaccines, important announcements, and infection numbers out to our community,” said Chief Gary Kipling, in an issued statement.

Members will be able to access personalized content, important documents, provide feedback, job and registration forms and more.

“Being able to send an instant notification directly to our members’ devices at any time – day or night – is a significant step up in terms of accessibility of information to our membership,” added Chief Kipling.

The Beaver First Nation app soft-launched back in March, but today marks the official announcement of the app for widespread download and use.
