Microsoft Announces New Xbox Stereo Headset, Preorders Available Now

Microsoft has announced the new Xbox Stereo Headset, a wired entry-level alternative to its Xbox Wireless Headset. The Xbox Stereo Headset offers much of the same core features and design elements, making it a great choice of peripheral once it launches on September 21st.

In a blog post, Xbox Senior Product Marketing Manager Jessica Tsujikawa revealed the Xbox Stereo Headset. Supported on console, PC, and mobile, users can expect to gain a quality audio experience for a lower cost that is typically offered on the market. The Xbox Stereo Headset is priced at $74.99 CAD and can be preordered now.

From a design perspective, the Xbox Stereo Headset is built similarly to the Xbox Wireless Headset, which was released earlier this year. The headset is built to have ultra-soft earcups for long-lasting play sessions and has a 3.5mm audio jack that connects straight to the Xbox Wireless Controller. On-ear controls for volume and muting can all be found on this model.

The Xbox team has worked to create a product that is capable of offering a well-rounded audio experience, featuring mid & high-frequency performance and bass. On top of that, the Xbox Stereo Headset supports Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, and DTS Headphone: X.

Based on the breakdown, it appears as though the Xbox Stereo Headset does lose the game/chat audio mixing that can be found on the Xbox Wireless Headset. Granted, the wireless model is priced at $129.99 CAD so a few concessions were expected.
