How to Add your Quebec Vaccine QR Code to iPhone’s Wallet App

If you’re trying to find a quick and easy way to show your Quebec vaccination QR code, a website that is a fork of website ‘CovidPass’ will let you add it to the Wallet app on your iPhone.

According to iPhone in Canada reader Wajdi based in Quebec, this CovidPass website is made for California residents, but it also works for the province’s vaccination QR codes, known as VaxiCode.

All you need to do is launch the CovidPass website in Safari on your iPhone, load the latest QR code PDF file from the Quebec government, and it should work.

Update: If you have an old PDF QR code, get the latest version for this to work. The scan option does not work, even with the latest Quebec PDF.

As for this third party website and privacy, it explains the following:

“Data privacy is of special importance when processing health-related data. In order for you to make an informed decision, please read the Privacy Policy,” explains the website.

In a nutshell, it says your QR code pass for the Wallet app is “created on your device” and is “open source and transparent,” with its code shared on Github.

We tested the site with our B.C. vaccination QR code and it worked as well. Below is what the QR code looks like once created and also when it’s in your Wallet app.

To quickly access your Quebec vaccine QR code from the Wallet app, just double-click the sleep/wake button on your iPhone (for those with Face ID) or the Home button (for those with Touch ID).

Until Apple releases iOS 15.1, which includes Smart Health Card support to let you store your vaccination records in the Health app and within Wallet, this third party solution might work temporarily for those in Quebec (many have noted iOS 15.1 beta doesn’t accept QR codes for Quebec yet).

Those in Ontario looking to add their vaccination QR codes to the Wallet on iPhone can use this online tool here.
