LG Electronics on Monday announced its lineup of TVs for 2022 ahead of the Korean tech manufacturer’s virtual CES 2022 exhibition, scheduled for 8 a.m. PST on Tuesday, January 4.

On LG’s slate for 2022 is the G2 lineup — an updated squad of “Gallery Design” TVs meant to succeed the G1 line, as well as the C2 series — successor to LG’s uber-popular C1 series of OLED TVs.

No stranger to firsts in the world of screens and displays, the crown jewel of LG’s G2 series is the first-ever 97-inch OLED TV. The rest of the lineup includes 55-, 65-, 77-, and 83-inch models.

This year’s G2 TVs will carry the same sleek, flush-to-the-wall design that we’ve come to expect from LG’s Gallery series, but even better.

The C2 series wasn’t left behind either and includes the world’s first 42-inch OLED TV, ideal for console and PC gaming and the panel for which was actually showcased by LG Display last year at its digital CES 2021 exhibition.

The C2 lineup will feature even thinner bezels than its predecessor and will offer six size options in total: 42, 48, 55, 65, 77, and 83 inches.

“Featuring LG’s advanced OLED panel, the new G2 series models are in a class of their own. The next level in OLED’s evolution, the OLED evo technology featured in both G2 and select C2 series delivers higher brightness for ultra-realistic images with amazing clarity and detail,” said LG in a media release.

“Powered by LG’s new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 5 intelligent processor, the company’s Brightness Booster technology enables G2 series TVs to deliver even more brightness through improved heat dissipation and a more advanced algorithm.”

LG also announced an expanded lineup of QNED TVs powered by the company’s proprietary Quantum Dot NanoCell technology that offers “stellar colour reproduction with 100 percent colour volume.”

Every LG QNED Mini LED TV model from the QNED90 series is certified for 100% colour consistency for accurate and consistent colour reproduction, and also boasts rich contrast with deep blacks.

All of this year’s OLED TVs from LG will run on an improved webOS offering and deliver a refined user experience.

LG also highlighted the enhanced AI capabilities of its 2022 TV line, along with even more options for high refresh rate gaming and game-specific optimizations and new, built-in interactive services like LG Fitness and LIVENow.
