Apple Provides Statement on Amsterdam Apple Store Hostage Situation
Apple has come forward with a statement regarding yesterday’s hostage situation that took place at the Amsterdam Apple Store location. The company is thanking local authorities for handling the situation as well as its staff and customers.
Yesterday, a man was arrested in Amsterdam for inciting a hostage situation at the Amsterdam Apple Store location. A lone gunman held a person hostage within the retail location for hours, stating he had explosives on his person, according to Reuters. Local police tweeted out the situation and encouraged nearby civilians to clear the area.
Regarding the safety of the people involved in the hostage situation at the Apple Store at Leidseplein, we would like to ask all public to stay away from the site so the police can focus on dealing with the situation.

The suspected lawbreaker contacted authorities during the situation and demanded $226 million in crypto. Thankfully, the police were able to arrest the offender as he attempted to flee. Police knocked down the armed man with a speeding car, deescalating the situation.
As reported by TechCrunch, Apple came forward with a statement regarding the situation.
“We want to thank local law enforcement for their exceptional work and ongoing investigation,” the statement, provided by an Apple spokesperson, continues. “Our teams and customers took swift action and showed incredible strength and resolve today, and we are so thankful for the support and care they’ve shown each other under such challenging circumstances.”
The suspect was found to be a 27-year old male who was found with a pistol and a rifle on his person.
